The establishment of the Chinese Journal of Hand Surgery can be traced back to October 1985. Under the guidance of the Party and the State and in line with the principle of “combining theory with practice and integrating popularization with progress”, the journal makes great efforts to report the most significant achievements in clinical practices and basic research in the field of hand surgery and to facilitate domestic and international academic exchange among hand surgery professionals. There are four major characteristics of the journal. First, the journal reports the latest developments in hand surgery in China, such as brachial plexus injuries, and digit replantation, etc. Second, the journal gives priority to innovations, inventions, technical improvements and clinical pearls and pitfalls by hand surgery professionals nationwidely. Third, the journal constantly introduces new theories,techniques and methods from outside of China; summarizes, discusses and directs academic trends; and focuses on almost all problems in different areas of hand surgery. Lastly,the journal helps professionals put theories into practice so they can better serve the people. The journal covers hand surgery and related disciplines, for example, skin and soft tissue injuries, tendon problems, peripheral nerve injuries, bone and joint disorders, tumors, inflammations, congenital anomalies, replantation, and reconstruction. The journal also provides readers with information on the following topics: flaps, nerves, tendons, brachial plaxus, and finger replantation,etc. The Chinese Journal of Hand Surgery was awarded not only the Silver Medal, but also the 3rd place prize for the Excellent Periodical Award by the Chinese Medical Association. It has been indexed by the following databases: CNKI, CMCC, Wanfang Data(ChinaInfo), CBMDisc, and CSCI.Full articles are available on CNKI, CMCC, and Wanfang Data(ChinaInfo), while abstracts are readable on CBMDisc and CSCI.
